Problem

Mr and Mrs Lawes had bought a house in Devon to fulfil one of their dreams; to escape the city and live in a family house in the calm, rural area they grew up in. However, they soon realised that the period property they had bought had single glazing windows in draughty old timber frames. 

On windy days, the windows rattled noisily, and as the winter set in, they realised how much energy they were losing out of the single glazed windows. They wanted to replace the windows with modern uPVC and double glazing, but they were worried that they would lose their property’s traditional charm. 

Solution

After talking to Britannia, they realised that they could get uPVC timber alternative flush casement windows, which would give them the look of traditional windows but with all the performance of a modern one. 

The style takes inspiration from traditional timber joinery, which means the frame is sleek and unobtrusive and sits flush against the wall of the property. Mr and Mrs Lawes also took advantage of our coloured wood-finish uPVC designs to give their house some character. 

“Even our neighbours have mentioned the new flush fit windows, and that the sage green colour gives the property a lighter look,” said Mrs Lawes. 

The new windows have built-in security features and also utilise A-rated glass. This allows the sun to heat the room, but doesn’t let the warmth escape; increasing thermal efficiency and reducing heating bills. 

“We’ve been so delighted with the service we’ve received from the New Windows team, we’re continuing work with replacement windows on the back of the house too,” added Mr Lawes.
