Lean-to Conservatories

  • If you have a height restriction at your property, don’t let it stop you from getting a conservatory. We can still install an elegant and long-lasting lean-to conservatory that’ll give you some much-needed extra space.

A lean-to conservatory is ideal for anyone who lives in a bungalow or a home where expanding would be difficult, due to some sort of size restriction. The unique feature of the lean-to style is its roof, which comes in a range of sizes and can be adjusted to different pitches (shallow suits bungalows, whereas steep is optimal for a terraced home).

More generally, conservatories invite more light into a home, creating a welcoming space that’s ideal for relaxing or entertaining in — especially during the summer months. We offer stylish and minimalist designs that maximise sun penetration without making the inner space too hot.

Why not convert your lean-to conservatory into an additional room for family members or guests to sleep in? Either that or your new space could function as a dining area, living room, or a private study.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean-to conservatory?

Despite using one of your home’s structural walls, a foundation will still be required before work can begin. Without this, your conservatory would lack a stable surface, which could cause costly issues later on.

The depth of your foundations will be determined based on the type of soil in the area where your lean-to will be built. Prior to commencing work, we will instruct a surveyor to visit your property. They will run some tests to verify soil type and work out which footings and groundwork will be needed to create a strong foundation for your new room

What is a lean-to conservatory?

It’s a straightforward and simple design which continues to prove popular with our customers. It showcases three glazed walls that extend out from one of the main walls of your home. It is typically a lot smaller than other conservatories.

Choose a glazed roof if light matters to you, or a tiled roof if you want to make your room more energy-efficient and turn it into a space that’s suitable for year-round use.

If you have limited room, a lean-to conservatory is your best option. Find out how to create more space by having a chat with us today.

What's the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

Normal conservatories and lean-to ones bear certain similarities. In all cases, extensive amounts of glazing are used to maximise light penetration and improve comfort. That said, most structures are large, and will include fine detailing and pitched roofs (our Edwardian and Victorian conservatories are prime examples).

By contrast, a lean-to conservatory will feature a graduated roof and occupy less space in your garden. This means it won’t extend very far from your home’s exterior wall. Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

If your outdoor space is limited, the lean-to style will allow you to create much-needed extra space without having to compromise on important factors such as warmth and light.

Should you own a bungalow or property with limited room beneath the eaves, this will make building a standard conservatory harder. The pitch of a lean-to roof can easily be adjusted to suit your home, with the angle ranging from shallow through to steep.

The modern and simple appearance of this style makes it an ideal addition to contemporary homes where extra room is needed, but without eating too much into the garden.
