Edwardian/Georgian Conservatories

  • Edwardian and Georgian conservatories are interchangeable terms for the same type of conservatory and continue to be popular with our customers. It’s easy to see why. The square design of an Edwardian conservatory means no square inch is wasted, making it a practical and cost-effective choice.

If you prefer minimalist designs, you won’t be disappointed. The Edwardian style comprises symmetrical and fine shapes to deliver a low-key yet impressive design.

The Edwardian style resembles the timeless look of Victorian conservatories but with a modern twist. Featuring tall vaulted roofs, the Edwardian style creates a tremendous sense of space and provides plenty of room for you and your loved ones to relax in.

By successfully fusing classical style with contemporary technology, our Edwardian conservatories won’t force you to compromise. Make sure your property stands out head and shoulder from the rest with a unique structure that replicates the much-adored heritage style. At the same time, take comfort in the knowledge that you and those you care about are protected by up-to-date security features.

Naturally, you’ll want your Edwardian conservatory to feel light and bright. On that score, it won’t let you down either. You’ll be able to enjoy lots of sunlight when relaxing in your new space without overheating becoming an issue (even in the middle of summer). Call us now so we can tell you about the benefits of our performance glass.

The Georgian conservatory typically has a high, sloping roof style that gives a spectacular vaulted effect. Your conservatory floods with light, making it a bright, airy and uplifting room.

What is an Edwardian conservatory?

Sometimes an Edwardian conservatory is referred to as a Georgian conservatory. Either way, it’s a traditional-looking structure that is both stylish and practical. Identifiable by a front that’s flat and a rectangular or square layout, it’s topped by a tall pitched roof that creates a magnificent vaulted ceiling. This allows light to enter from a range of different angles.

The regular shape of an Edwardian conservatory means that no space is wasted. This makes it suitable for a range of purposes including studies, bedrooms, lounges, and dining rooms. The possibilities are almost endless. Bring your dreams to life by discussing your ideas with us today — give us a call.

Can I have decorative glass in my Edwardian conservatory?

Of course you can! The good news is that we have a stunning collection of decorative glass, including textured or leaded glass. See our brochure for more information and explore our range of styles and colours. Would you prefer something intricate or traditional? Either way, we can help.

Textured glass is ideal if you want to turn your Edwardian conservatory into a private space while still allowing in plenty of light. It’s an ideal choice if you live in a built-up area and are overlooked by your neighbours

From traditional glass through to unique pieces, we’ll help you find decorative glass that’ll bring your new Edwardian conservatory to life.

What is the difference between a Victorian and Edwardian conservatory?

They bear many similar characteristics. Each exhibits the same ornate style, have pitched roofs, and blend in well with modern or traditional homes — making them both adaptable and versatile.

What sets them apart? Victorian conservatories feature a bay front and either three or five sides. This gives it a rounder shape that contrasts with that of its Edwardian cousin, which is rectangular.

Both come armed with a range of benefits, so which is ‘better’ mostly comes down to personal preference. The curved look of the Victorian style may tick your design boxes, or you might fall in love with the space-creating layout of an Edwardian conservatory instead.

Are Edwardian conservatories practical?

Yes! They are arguably one of the most useful conservatory styles. The sheer amount of square footage created means that you’ll have free reign to turn your new room into anything you want. In contrast, it would be harder to find furniture to fit inside the bay section of a Victorian conservatory.

The pitched roof comes into its own in terms of getting rid of unwanted debris and leaves. Choose an Edwardian conservatory, and such matter will slide off instead of gathering on top.

There are lots of other options for you to explore. Call us or pop by our Warminster showroom and speak to one of our friendly consultants. We’d love to help.
